In a large bowl, add the red chili paste, brown sugar, coarse chili powder, cooking wine, dark soy sauce, and crushed garlic. Mix evenly. *Dak-galbi (Spicy stir-fried chicken) 1. Chop the chicken leg into edible sizes. 2. Chop the onions 2 cm thick. Chop the potatoes 1 cm thick and cut into 1 cm strips. 3. Cut the cabbage into large pieces. 4. Cut the green part of the green onions into pieces 3 cm long. Cut the white stalk into half and cut into pieces 3 cm long. 5. Wash the garlic and trim the ends. 6. Trim off the stalks of the shishito peppers and cut them in half. Chop the hot pepper into small pieces. 7. In a large bowl, mix together the chicken leg, potatoes, onions, cabbage, hot pepper, shishito peppers, garlic, and multi-purpose marinade. 8. When seasoned evenly, mix in the green onions and then the black pepper and sesame oil. 9. Place the marinated chicken on a plate and sprinkle ground sesame seeds. 10. On a frying pan, add the marinated mix and cook slowly over medium heat. 11. When the marinade starts to burn, add water and stir-fry. 12. Use scissors to cut large pieces of chicken into edible bites. 13. After tasting, add rice cake and cook. 14. Parboil the udon noodles in boiling water and remove moisture. Giant Dak Galbi & Day Trip to Nami Island (Day 4)


► Seoul Travel Guide for Food Lovers: 🤍 On Day 4 in South Korea, we decided to take a day trip to Nami Island, which is a famous touristy island a couple hours away from Seoul. Once we arrived, we had a dish called dak galbi. It was an alright day, but not my favorite. 00:24 Metro to Gapyeong Station - 2,250 Won ($1.90) - One of the things that truly amazing me about Seoul is that the public Metro / Subway is incredibly extensive. You can even travel for hours and get way out of the city, but still using the Seoul Metro. On this trip it literally took us about 2 full hours to arrive to Gapyeong Station. We made a couple transfers, but eventually made it, and had to take a quick taxi ride to Nami Pier. 1:48 Dak Galbi (닭갈비) - For lunch, before taking the boat across the Nami Island, we stopped at a restaurant near the pier to eat a Korean dish called Dak Galbi (닭갈비), which is chicken and cabbage with rice caked all cooked on a huge pan in front of you with lots of sweet chili paste. It was a lot of fun to eat and cook, but I’m not a huge fan of the sweet chili paste. I usually prefer the sour and spicy chili as opposed to the sweet chili paste. But still, it was a fun meal and dak galbi is a popular Korean food especially with the younger generation. Total price - 46,000 Won ($38.92) for 4 5:54 Nami Island (Namiseom Island 남이섬 종합휴양지) - 10,000 Won ($8.46) per person - After lunch we walked over to the Nami Island pier, bought out tickets, and then took the ferry boat to the island. Nami Island is mostly famous because it was featured on some Korean movies and tv shows, I think. Overall, it was very touristy, and it was just kind of like a nice park, but it was so busy. The best thing about visiting Nami Island for me was eating a skewer of grilled lamb with cumin, wow that was good. For dinner, we just went into Lotte Supermarket and bought some groceries and ate at home in our apartment. Today I made Dakgalbi with cheese! Dakgalbi is stir-fried dish with marinated chicken, vegetables(I used cabbage, green onion and perilla leaf) and other topping on an iron pan. It originated from the Chuncheon region and is now enjoyed all over Korea. Give it a try, if you visit Korea! I added udon noodles and it was great! XD You can also use jjolmyeon(chewy noodles), ramyeon, dangmyeon(starch noodles). Make fried rice with leftover sauce and you’ll love it! (For reference, watch! Pa-bulgogi: 🤍 It was a shame I couldn’t because I was too full. *Ingredients 500g Boneless chicken, Vegetables of choice (Put more than you think is enough), mozzarella cheese, udon noodles marinade sauce: 1Tbs sugar, 1Tbs redpepper powder, 2Tbs soysauce, 1Tbs chopped garlic 2 hot peppers, 1.5Tbs starch syrup, sesame oil and sesame seeds * Recipe 1. Cut chicken and vegetable into bite sized pieces. 2. Mix the gochujang, redpepper powder, sugar, starch syrup, soy sauce, chopped garlic, sesame oil and sesame seeds in a bowl. You can tweak the amount to taste. Add curry powder to bring it to another level. 3. Mix the marinade with the chicken and leave it in the fridge for 1~2 hours. 4. Coat the iron pan with sesame oil and fry marinated chicken and vegetables. 5. When the chicken is almost cooked, add udon noodles and keep frying. 6. Finish off with sprinkles of cheese! Done! You can sprinkle the cheese on top, or you can make it a dip like I did in the video. To be honest, I wasn’t going to upload this video, but I was craving dakgalbi. So here it is. Enjoy! [치즈닭갈비 재료] -3~4인분- - 재료: 닭다리살 500g, 고구마 1개, 양파 1/2개, 양배추 1/6통, 대파 1/2대, 깻잎 5장, 떡볶이 떡 1/2컵, 모차렐라치즈 2컵, 우유 1/2컵 - 양념장: 고추장 3큰술, 고춧가루 2큰술, 맛술 2큰술, 간장 1 1/2큰술, 설탕 1큰술, 다진 마늘 1큰술, 올리고당 2큰술, 카레가루 1큰술, 생강즙 1큰술, 참기름 1큰술, 후추 약간, 깨 약간(생략가능) [Cheese Dakgalbi Ingredients] -3~4 servings- - Ingredients: 500g Boneless drumstick, 1 Sweet potato, 1/2 Onion, 1/6 Cabbage, 1/2 Green onion, 5 Perilla leaf, 1/2 cup Rice cake for Toppoki, 2 cup Mozzarella cheese, 1/2 cup Milk - Spice: 3tbsp Red chili paste, 2tbsp Red chili powder, 2tbsp Cooking wine, 1 1/2tbsp Soy sauce, 1tbs Sugar, 1tbsp Minced garlic, 2tbsp Oligosaccharide, 1tbsp Curry powder, 1tbsp Ginger juice, 1tbsp Sesame oil, A bit of Pepper and Sesame [치즈닭갈비 레시피 I Instruction] 1.닭은 껍질을 제거하고, 우유에 30분 정도 담갔다가 물에 헹궈 먹기 좋은 크기로 잘라주세요. 볼에 양념장 재료를 넣고 고루 섞은 후 닭을 넣어 30분 정도 재워주세요. 1.Remove the skin on the chicken meat, marinate in milk for about 30 minutes, wash in cold water, and cut into bite-sized pieces. In a bowl, mix the ingredients for spice and marinate the chicken for another 30 minutes. 2.양파는 채를 썰고 고구마, 양배추, 깻잎은 한입 크기로 썰어두고 대파와 청양고추, 홍고추는 어슷하게 썰어 준비해주세요. 2.Thinly slice the onion. Cut sweet potato, cabbage and perilla leaves in bite-sizes. Slice the spring onion, cheongyang pepper and red chili pepper in sideways. 3.달군 팬에 약간의 기름을 두르고 닭과 고구마를 넣어 볶다가 고구마가 살짝 익으면 양파와 양배추, 떡을 넣어 5분 정도 볶아주세요. 3.On a heated pan, put some oil and start stir-frying meat and sweet potato. Mix them well. Add the chicken to the seasoning and mix well. Marinate the chicken for at least 20 to 30 minutes. Step 3: Prep. vegetables Cut the cabbage into large chunks. Chop the onion into large chunks. Cut the potatoes roughly. Slice the carrot a little bit thinly. Cut the leek into 1 inch size. Step 4: Cook all the ingredients First, put the pan over high heat, add the prepared vegetables. Add the chicken which has marinated. Put 1 pack of udon noodle. #shorts #koreanfood #mukbang Ssamjang is another classic in Korean cuisine and a MUST HAVE when it comes to barbecue or rice wrapped in vegetables. There are different recipes for making dakgalbi with gochujang and black bean sauce, but I thought the easier, the better! Here we go: 500g chicken filet salt pepper milk 5 tbsp ssamjang 2 tbsp soy sauce 2 tbsp sugar 1 tbsp corn syrup or honey 1/2 Korean curry powder (or regular curry powder) 1 scallion 1 onion 2 garlic cloves 1 red chili pepper perilla leaves (if available) cabbage (as much as you like) mozzarella cheese 1) Start by slicing the chicken filet into bite-sized pieces. Transfer them into a bowl and add salt, pepper, and milk. Let sit for about 30 minutes. 2) Slice cabbage, garlic, onion, red chili pepper, and perilla leaves. 3) Mix ssamjang, soy sauce, sugar, corn syrup or honey, and Korean curry powder in a bowl. Add crushed garlic. 4) Remove the milk from the chicken and add it to the bowl with the sauce. Let the chicken absorb the sauce for about 10 minutes. 5) Heat a frying pan over medium heat and stir-fry the chicken for 2–3 minutes. Then add sliced cabbage, onion, scallion, red chili pepper, and perilla leaves. Close the lid and let simmer for another 3 minutes. Open the lid and keep stir-frying until the chicken is done. 6) Sprinkle some mozzarella cheese and let simmer on low heat until cheese melts. Enjoy ❤️
